A rice paddy field planted by elementary and middle school students. |
Chirping birds and hooting owls greet me on my daily walk around the campus at Japan Women's University Niski-Ikuta Campus. My coworkers and I reminisce daily about how lucky we are to be at such a stunning and tranquil university which houses lush gardens, forestry, and bamboo groves. Earlier in the month, I saw girls from the elementary school campus planting what I think is a rice paddy field only a few meters from my building. The office ladies are constantly picking fresh flowers from the grounds and displaying them in the waiting areas. Wild life greets me daily as I encounter snakes, bumble bees, butterflies, and caterpillars. There is nothing more beautiful in my day than walking up the hill towards the cafeteria.
